WebEach of these transitions is phenomenologically broadened by assigning a Gaussian or Lorentzian line shape centered at Δ E, with an empirical full-width δ and with an area proportional to the corresponding f. The average of these multiple Gaussians builds up the electronic spectrum (see details below).
